For the second year in a row, the city is turning the most-densely populated stretch of the river into an extravaganza of large, brightly colored floats.
Eventually, there will be a hefty decorative fleet anchored securely into place for people from near and far to come and gaze upon. However, that day hasn't come yet, and in the meantime the riverside is alive with activitiy as scores of men combine fabric, metal skeletons and buoyant bases together.
Every single floating display ends up on a base made from a metal frame and bright blue plastic barrels.
Right now things definitely look a bit busy, as if a the children of giants were playing outside and forgot to pick up their toys when their mother called them in for dinner.
However, once everything is finally in place, the end result will be quite a feast for the eyes.
Several floats are already up and in place, sitting proudly for all to gaze upon.
Just by looking at these first few completed ones, I'm definitely getting a little bit excited. No doubt, it will all definitely make my weekly shopping trips uptown a little more bright and cheerful.
Actually, correction - I actually can't say that I'll enjoy all of the waterfront creations. Like with many things life, a small exception or two needs to be made.
.... I'm sorry, but try as I might, for now I'm just not one for associating power plants and festivities of any sort, even in so much as the same thoughts together.
